women are playing an increasingly important role in society. successful women such as government officials, scientists, athletes, teachers and doctors are found everywhere. we can say that many jobs which were done only by men in the past can be done equally well by women now. women are making their influence felt in all walks of life. with the changes in their social role, women’s position in the family has been improved as well. the husband is no longer the only economic provider of the family income and the wife is no longer economically dependent. the cope with the problems of daily life together, and share happiness and sadness with each other. in spite of these changes, women still face many difficulties and obstacles due to traditional roles and limited economic strength. in addition to fighting against the old ideas, the effort should be made to awake women to the prejudice, and encourage women to build their independent careers and realize their full potential. no doubt, women still have a long way to go in their struggle for complete equality with men.

What Lessons Should Be Learned From the Drought
The drought in the south-west China has lasts for several months, which makes people face water and food scarcity. We should learn lessons from it.
The drought can be cause by several factors. Firstly, about 63 percent of cities in China are facing water scarcity. The situation is worsened by pollution and industrialization. In addition, too many trees have been cut down, so forest cove rage has been decreasing rapidly. What's more, some water conservation projects haven't been functioning properly, thus people there have had to rely more heavily on rainfall for their water supply. Most of China's irrigation systems are very old.
In order to prevent this case coming about again, we should improve our awareness of saving water, making proper use of water and recycling water. Meanwhile, we ought to plant more trees and protect environment to prevent loss of water and soil erosion. Of course, the governments should increase investment and repair water conservation projects as timely as possible.

There is a heated debate over the role of lectures and discussions in the classroom. Some people believe that lectures can help students learn more quickly. In contrast, others hold that discussions can stimulate students to learn by themselves.
Those who hold the first opinion suggest that students attend more lectures. In their view, by giving lectures teachers help students master the knowledge they've accumulated over years of study and research. However, others think that in a discussion, the teacher usually guides the students instead of dominating them. They argue that to get involved in a discussion, students have to develop their ability to analyze problems independently.
In my opinion, I stand on the side of neither idea. First of all, either method has its disadvantages. Furthermore, each student has his or her preference. Thirdly, lectures are preferable to discussions in the teaching of science subjects, and on the contrary, discussions are preferable to lectures in studying the humanities. Therefore, we should adopt different teaching methods according to different subjects.
